About the Role

Purpose of the role
The purpose of the role is to assist in the implementation of complex financial models (IFRS9 & IRB) in a regulated environment and to produce management information and insight on model performance.

Model builds are conducted within the Group’s model development teams and are delivered to the BI team for implementation. As such, the Senior BI Analyst will need to work closely with the model development teams to understand, rationalise and challenge (where appropriate) assumptions within the models.

The Senior BI Analyst will have influence on the end to end solution in place, from ETL, transactional model build, data warehouse design and MI reporting. They will interrogate historic data to analyse and understand trends, giving insight and influencing group strategy.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Design and develop automated solutions to assist the business in its operation, using Power BI, Excel and the Microsoft SQL Server 2016 suite of products
  • Interpret complex financial models; replicate models within an SQL environment, with the ability to challenge the modelling approach and assumptions
  • Investigate and remediate issues arising in the overnight model runs
  • Analysing trends in the performance and behaviour of the Group’s loan assets based upon historical data
  • Production of regular reporting which supports the financial month end accounting process, regulatory reporting and capital analysis
  • Ongoing reconciliation and validation of account data and model results
  • Production of regular and ad hoc reporting solutions as and when requested by the business areas across the Group
  • Production of monitoring packs to support the Group’s model governance framework
  • Producing analysis and insight to understand model performance over time
  • Provide recommendations to the business based on the results of analysis undertaken

About You

  • Strong SQL background, with experience of T-SQL & SSIS
  • Experience of analysing and reporting on large/complex datasets
  • Ability to develop new solutions using methodologies consistent with current solutions
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Analytically focussed and detail conscious
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Experience within the Financial Services Industry
  • Experience of using a database source control solution
  • Experience of developing reporting in Power BI
Qualifications and experience
Experience of regulatory and financial modelling (IFRS9 & IRB).
Educated to degree level, minimum 2:1 standard, in a relevant subject.

Working hours
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch).
